Our mate's little doggie jacket (UPCYCLED denim vest)

Well our sweet little mate today was shivering, because it is getting quite cool.  I have been planning to make him a doggie jacket, and today was the day.  Going through my stash of fabric, I decided this 15 yr old vest of mine teamed up with jumper stretch fabric and an old mattress protector would be spot on.

I traced around the reindeer outfit that we bought our little mate for Xmas and used that as the pattern.

I had to adjust the pattern little bits here and there to keep the pockets on the vest in tact.

He is happy, the kids were excited to see him all dressed up when they got home and he sure got plenty of cuddles from my littlest sweetie in his new toasty warm coat!!

Dressin' up a t-shirt

I have a cheap frill sleeve shirt in the cupboard, but it just doesn't thrill me, so picking up the (nearly matching) doily at Vinnies recently I thought I better get to and sew it on...

I love it....

Cute Knickers...

In a cleaning frenzy this morning and swapping things around, I came across this cute pair of baby girl stockings.  They are too small and well, starting to lose elasticity, so I had to do something with these or move them on to the bin.

But look what I created instead....

So all I did was chop them off...they are woollen but won't fray and the bottom of the legs here I just rolled up

And the bottoms are cute little sockies.....

What is it about baby pink that is so darn gorgeous on little girls......

Modge podge boring shoes

Here are some $9 shoes I bought probably six months ago, mostly because I bought them in chambray and they are comfy and great and $9.....but these were just way too boring for me to wear,...but then I have been seeing some gorgeous lace shoes on pinterest and thought I just need a doily and modge podge and I should be able to do this.....here it is

Boooorrrrrring!!!!!

I simply cut the doily in half and modge podged it on there

I cut ever cm of the overlap (like you do in sewing) to make the material fit the curve

And here is a snea peak of the end result....I haven't done shoe 2 yet....so please be patient, won't be long...I can't wait to wear them.....

DIY cake stand - using an overlocker spool

Well this is one I haven't seen anywhere else, but it looked perfect for the job.....

I made a cake stand using a stovetop element cover, an overlocker spool and a japanese dish....

So, I spray painted the cover all pink. Then placed a paper doily down and spraypainted over it white.  The overlocker spool was already the matching colour pink...so I painted the little dish white. Let them dry and then glued them together.

Such quick projects like this are so much fun.

The glass plates in the front are a DIY I did last week on an older post.

Birthday preparations

Well what I got up to today, is nothing that tricky or delicate, but it is practical and going to be great.  I recycled some timber used for packaging as a base for a wooden train track for my little sweetie.  I even screwed the castors on myself...as I said, nothing tricky, but a small accomplishment that will hopefully deliver a hugh HAPPY SMILE and hours of enjoyment to my darlin'!

I superglued the sparkly water down and had planned to screw the track down so it doesn't get knocked about, but it really does take the fun out of designing tracks, so I just grabbed some sandpit trees and animals and added them to the assortment and glued trees, dam and river to the painted board.

Upcycled Lace Summer Scarf

Well, again I haven't done that much of late, but just prepare kidlets for school and enjoy the holidays.  I have found some great printable lunchbox notes sites just by doing a google search and I am really enjoying writing two inspirational notes on the kids bag tags and a secret one in their lunchbox. I find it really helped my son want to learn to read last year and it is something personal about how they are going, what they can do or just "Niceness is kindness" which went on one today,..

I am trying to give them encouragement at the things they are good at or have done well the day before.

A friend also told me she engraves special notes into their banana skins...what a lovely idea.  I will post some pics later.

Here is a scarf I made the other day, I had some leftover muslin, very light and breezy fabric.  Then some old cotton  scallop edging. I sewed this onto the bottom of the muslin and then sewed around each large lace rose. It creates the effect of one whole piece, but it just helps dress up some dull outfits.
